The Dusk of One Season Marks the Dawn of Another

As summer fades, the beauty of autumn emerges.
Cloudy, brisk days &
the wind blows through the garden spreading the seeds from summer's blooms.
Trees are dotted with reds and orange.
Woolly Bear Caterpillars wander this time of year.
It's said one can predict the coming winter's weather by looking at these furry little caterpillars.
This year the Woolly Bears have more brown than black.
That tells us this winter will be mild.
Last summer they had more black, which meant we were to have a colder winter.
Last winter was, indeed, quite cold.

Our Turkish Figs are ripening and ash from the Cascade fires cover the garden.
My sweet girl brought a tiny cabbage seedling home from school in the spring. She's been caring for it all summer and is so excited to harvest it in a few weeks. We will be making our favorite with it, minestrone soup.
Honey bees are flocking to the sedum.
The flowers and bishops weed fade, but the beauty of autumn is here, already<3
