Fooooood

Oh, how I love food!
I love growing food, preparing it, cooking it, serving it, and eating it!
My little family and I have been really enjoying all the meals we make since going vegan.
We've tried so many new recipes. Only one was a disappointment.
We have fun making up our own, too!

The melons are growing strong! So excited to taste my first Washington grown melon. :)

It's been a rainy summer! Didn't have to water today. :)

A bed of turnips, wax beans, and butter lettuce. Yum! I have some thinning to do. Baby greens salad here i come!

Sometimes you have to get creative and use what you have lying around. I have some peas growing up a beautiful madrona branch, that fell from last winter's storm.

Excellent chickpea bread! The kids loved it and they are not the biggest fans of chickpeas. So, I didn't bother telling them that there is a can of pureed chickpeas in this loaf! It also has a couple cups of oats and 1/3 cup of flaxmeal in it. It is packed full of flavor! Next time I will add a bit more flour. I had to translate the recipe from a woman in Norway. I think I was shy a cup of flour. I had a slice with a salad from the garden. Baby butter lettuce and turnip greens, with lemon cukes, and sun gold tomatoes! So yum!

My favorite fruit combo:) Look at those gorgeous blackberries. The kids picked them for me this morning from the garden.
Guess what I did with these peaches and blackberries? I put them in a cobbler. It is baking in the oven right now, and it smells divine!

Our own little creation of curried empanadas<3

It's bomb! Filled with potatoes, chickpeas, carrot, peas, onion, and garlic. Seasoned with red chili curry paste, and wrapped in a flaky pastry, then dipped in a sweet, spicy candied ginger chili sauce. Served with a side of Basmati rice, with the leftover veggie filling and topped with cilantro. So, soo good!

Beautiful tomato! Tasmanian Chocolate. Has full balanced flavor. <3

My oh my, these vegan sweet buns turned out fan-freakin-tastic! I was craving pan dulce, so i tried a concha recipe from thymeandlove.com
I didnt have everything for the topping, so i just iced them. It is like the best donut ever.

Sheet pan teriyaki! So easy, so delicious, and it can feed a crowd!
Chopped cauliflower, potatoes, carrots, and chickpeas, smothered in a delicious sweet and spicy organic teriyaki sauce. Served over brown rice and topped with cilantro and lime juice.
Pineapple would make a good addition! As well as carmelized onion.
We usually use sweet potato, too.

A humble harvest.

Homemade Ciabata!
This was my first time making ciabata, and I am thrilled about how good it turned out. So airy and chewy. I will definitely be making this beautiful bread again and again.

Thai peppers are delicious in homemade salsa. They add the heat without the bitterness of a larger hot pepper. So, you can enjoy that sweet, fresh picked tomato flavor.
The Thai peppers are doing very well in the garden!

Rosemary & Thyme Sprouted Whole Wheat

Annnnnd Falafel Burger with lemon dill tahini sauce, and a side of patty pan squash<3
Our favorite! Falafel where have you been all my life?!
