In the Spring the Garden is a Feast of Blossom
~When robin red-breast is on the hunt here and there, blue butterflies carelessly glide through the air, and hearts appear, you know you are in the midst of spring, my dear~
hehe Sometimes I can bust a rhyme.
I love these giant double Tulips, but unfortunately so do the rabbits and deer.
Not many made it this spring. ::sigh::
Hello there, Robin Red-Breast. On the hunt for some worms, are we?
Can you hear the bells of spring ringing?
~Blue Bells~
Bleeding Hearts aka Lyre Flower
Beautiful Rhododendron
Japanese Kerria aka Japanese Rose
~A romantic lunch in the garden <3~
The sweet cherry scent of Laurel's blooms fill the air this time of year.
Cherry Blossoms
Sweet Viburnum
Quince
Red Currant
Japanese Maple
Buttercrunch Lettuce
Look what I found growing in the garden. A gift from the spring woods, a Morel.
I spotted it when it was just a wee thing. We let it grow to an impressive size before harvesting it.
It was our first time trying Morel. They are scrumptious! Nutty and earthy. Such a pleasantly rich flavor they have! I sauteed it in butter with garlic and served it with a little bit of whole wheat penne and parmesan. Mmm...we are definitely going to purchase some spores to inoculate our garden, so we can harvest a bunch next spring. Who knows...maybe we will become Morel farmers. They do go for $300 a pound.
I expanded our kitchen garden a bit and planted our favorites, Wax Beans ( a tender yellow green bean) and Sugar Ann snap peas. Those are great snap peas, because they are low growing and do not need to be trellised.
; )
~A proud dad moment.~
Daphne, such sweet scented clusters of purple. A floral vanilla fragrance.
Sweet Nelli <3
