Autumn Beauty
Basil & Radagast were bonded bunnies, until puberty hit. One day they got into a scuffle and Radagast nearly bit Basil's nose off, literally. We knew this day would *most likely* come. We were prepared to separate the buns and take them to a veterinarian specializing in rabbits, to be neutered. Their surgeries went well. It takes a few weeks for their hormones to calm down, and when they do, we will try to re-bond the two.
These current freezing temps have the leaves turning fast and dropping quickly. It's beautiful, not just in the garden, but out and about, as well. The roads here are lined heavily with maples, large, large maples that are stunningly orange with the deepest of green fir trees and hemlocks set behind them. I love going on drives this time of year.
My sweet girl and I collected autumn leaves, that we tucked away in books to be pressed and dried for decorating our Thanksgiving table with. They turned out perfect, so we collected more leaves, and have those tucked away in books right now.
It's mushroom season and so many are popping up everywhere. My mister and I often talk about mushroom hunting in the woods. We try to identify as many edible mushrooms as we can, using the web and YouTube, but when it comes down to actually harvesting and eating them, we are terrified. There are too many poisonous look alikes, so I think it'd be best to go with a guide sometime to show us the way. In the meantime, we may grow mushrooms ourselves to harvest, along with truffles. Yum!
